Three Images

My Best Creative Work

This is one of my best works so far.  Growing up as an Asian-Australian, I've experienced the all too-common confusion of feeling displaced between two cultural identities.  The food depicted in the paintings are served at Yum Cha, a tradition hailing from the Cantonese region, so I felt it was appropriate to symbolise the love I have for my heritage.  It's also a common joke that Asian parents and families show their love by providing food for their kids.  This series is technically incomplete, as I planned to do several more food items.  Each was created in two hours or less on 10.2cm x 10.2cm canvases.

A Great Piece of Architecture

St Basil's Cathedral was designed by architect(s) "Barma and Postnik Yakovlev" during the 16th century. The architects have been a disputed fact over the course of history,  some even theorising that both names refer to just one person. The building's shape is similar to bonfire flames whilst Russia's penchant for bright colours are represented on the distinct onion domes.

A Beautiful Picture

This picture was taken at Sapporo station in Japan, during the autumn/winter season of 2019. I think it's beautiful because there's a sense of nostalgia due to the colour palette. Also, the contrasting pale and dark, cool colours evoke a retro-feel. If you look closely enough, you can see snow falling in the background too.
